Reclaiming the Sink: A Simple Bathroom Cabinet Organization Fix

Have you ever walked into your bathroom and felt immediately overwhelmed by the clutter?

The countertop is full of bottles and tubes, and instead of peace, you feel stress. That was my daily experience—until I decided to reclaim my space, starting under the sink.

Sometimes the biggest stressors are the smallest messes. This post is about how a simple trip to the store and a $30 solution gave me back my sanity—right in my bathroom.

The Problem: Chaos Above and Below the Sink

For a long time, my bathroom countertop was a disaster. I couldn’t even set down my hygiene bag without bumping over a deodorant stick or knocking a bottle of lotion to the floor. Getting ready in the morning felt like a balancing act, not a moment of peace.

Worse, the cabinet under the sink? A total mystery zone. It had become a black hole filled with random beauty products, half-used ointments, ancient Q-tips, and travel-sized everything.

I knew I needed a change. I needed peace—and a clean countertop.

The Goal: Clear the Countertop, Organize the Cabinet

The mission was simple:

  1. Clean out the cabinet

  2. Get rid of anything expired or unnecessary

  3. Organize the rest so it stays clean and accessible

  4. Free up the countertop for daily use

And I had been eyeing the perfect solution: clear, stackable plastic drawers.

Every time I passed by them in the store, I wondered if they’d be a good fit. Finally, on one errand run, I made the call—I grabbed three.

The Process: From Chaos to Calm

The first step was pulling everything out of the sink cabinet. Honestly, I didn’t even know what was in there anymore. I found:

  • Multiple half-used perfumes

  • Expired skincare products

  • Travel-size toiletries from who-knows-where

  • Loose Q-tips (some of which may have lived there for years…)

After tossing what I didn’t need, I gave the cabinet a deep clean. The floor of it had become sticky and gross—evidence of spills and leaks over time.

Once it was clean and dry, I slid in the three clear drawers. The transparency was a game-changer—I could immediately see where everything was. I organized items by category:

  • Everyday hygiene in the top drawer

  • Skincare and first aid in the middle

  • Backstock items and extras in the bottom

The result? The cabinet finally worked for me.

The Reward: A Clear Sink, A Clear Mind

With everything stored away neatly under the sink, I finally had what I wanted: a clean, functional countertop. I can now walk into the bathroom, set down my hygiene bag, and get ready for the day without fumbling through clutter.

There’s something truly satisfying about having a system. Not a Pinterest-perfect one—but one that fits your real-life needs.

The Takeaway: Stay Curious, Stay Intentional

What worked for me might look different for you. But the principle is the same:

Stay curious. Stay intentional. And look for small solutions that make life smoother.

The next time you're overwhelmed by clutter, remember: peace is often just one drawer system away.
